OS 6"map, Argyllshire, 2nd ed., (1904)

On Tree Island in Loch Eil, opposite Corpach, the Locheil Chiefs had a family residence during the 16th and 17th centuries. In Macfarlane's Geographical Collections it is stated that in Loch Eil "there is little islands and the Laird and his Superiors of the country doeth dwell in one of them, having but timber houses builded thereintill" There are several charters in existence signed by Alan, the 15th Chief, on 'Island of Loch Eil"

There is now no trace of a dwelling on Tree Island.
