Full Description

A small quantity of metal objects were recovered during a metal detector survey by West Coast Archaeological Services on the west side of the Culloden Battlefield in 2013 prior to footpath construction. Forty-two objects were recovered, including two copper alloy buttons, one copper alloy buckle, a lead or pewter object and miscellaneous iron objects. The buckle was a potentially interesting artefact which may be contemporary with the mid-18th century Battle of Culloden. The lead or pewter object (Find No. 32) may also be of interest, as it appeared that it may have been an object deformed through heat. <1>
