The house and parts of the steading appear on the 1st Edition OS Map, and therefore date at the latest to 1872. The farmhouse was of a probable C18/C19 date, and the original remnants of the steading were probably contemporary with this. The main building materials comprised of stone and mortar. A partially stone-and-mortar wall, partially drystone wall, ran between the outbuildings.
A photographic survey was carried out by Groves-Raines Architects Ltd. In 2012, as part of a condition on a planning application. <1>
