Full Description

The bothy, byre, and fank appear on the 5th Edition OS Map, and so date at latest to 1968. They do not appear on the 1903 2nd Edition OS Map, and so are definitely of C20 construction. All were constructed in drystone, with the bothy and conjoined byre roofed in wood and corrugated iron sheets, and the bothy's interior painted white.

A photographic record was carried out by Lara Adams as part of a condition on a planning application to repair the bothy, and to erect a new dwelling house, smiddy, and outbuilding. Adams noted in her correspondence to the HER that the resident of the croft whose land these buildings sit thought the bothy had been used as a dwelling place whilst the croft was being built, and that she had discovered an inscription in the stonework on the croft dating it to 1919, which could indicate the bothy was built between this time and the date of the 2nd Edition OS Map publication. <1>
