Full Description
A WWII gate on Joss Street, Invergordon.
The structure was investigated in 2015 as part of the ARCH project 'Invergordon in World War I'. A number of segments of wartime fencing survive in Invergordon, including from Seabank Road, down to Joss Street. A pedestrian gate and a gate large enough for vehicles survive in the fencing near the eastern end of Joss Street. These allowed access to a Filter House, and from the pedestrian gate, to a pipeline heater which can just be made out in the thick vegetation. The fencing, gate and Filter House were in use in WWII. The pedestrian gate is situated at the western end of the air raid shelter in Joss Street. <1>
