Houses used as WREN accomodation during WWII at 163 High Street, Invergordon.
The buildings were investigated in 2015 as part of the ARCH project 'Invergordon in World War I'. These houses are remembered as Council Houses built c. 1938. They were taken over by the Navy to become accommodation for W.R.E.N.s during WWII. Aerial photographs from 1945 and 1947 show three nissen huts behind the building fronting High Street. The Wrennery is said to have held 200 women - so perhaps included the nissen huts behind. <1> <2>
