Full Description

Site of WWII Nissen Huts behind 163 High Street, Invergordon.

The buildings were investigated in 2015 as part of the ARCH project 'Invergordon in World War I'. Council Houses at 163 High Street were taken over by the Navy in WWII to become accommodation for W.R.E.N.s during WWII. An aerial photograph from 1945 shows three nissen huts and a framed building between the Wrennery and houses on Joss Street (see MHG57115). An aerial photograph from 1947 shows the three nissen huts but not the framed building. <1>
