Full Description

A hut circle at Tighnafiline.

187605 889964 Tighnafiline 2 JAN005: The hut circle was visited by A MacInnes in 2013 as part of research on hut circles in Wester Ross for A Welti. This HC sits on a natural terrace with panoramic views, and is built out from a gentle S facing slope. Average internal diameter is 8m, external diameter is 10.4m. The double skinned wall thickness is 1.2m, with max height 0.5m. Entrance width internally is 0.8m, and externally is 1m. The passage length is 1.5m, and the sketch shows the likelihood of extended entrance terminals. MR003 (see MHG) is 500m distant downslope to SW, out of sight line, and may be associated. There are 2 cairns to SW, possibly burial cairns. There is an oval structure 10 m to E of the HC and a sheep fank 300m to SE.. <1> <2>
