Full Description

A township comprising a large number of roofed buildings is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 25-inch map. There are two foci, one to the north with a cluster of buildings including a post office and a smithy and a second linear settlement to the south which closely follows the coastline. It is subsequently labelled 'Upper Ardelve' and 'Lower Ardelve'. <1>
