Full Description
A roofed building within a rectangular enclosure is shown situated within the fenced ground enclosing the railway line immediately SE of a cutting on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Inverness-shire 1873, sheet lxxxviii). It measured roughly 15m from NE to SW by 4m transversely and was the focus for trackways running SSE to the NW shore of Loch Insh and SW to the bridge crossing the railway line situated about 90m NE. The building is also shown on the 2nd edition of the map, by which time the enclosure had been subdivided into two unequal parts by a new fence running NW to SE (Inverness-shire 1903, sheet lxxxviii). This map also shows that a second roofed building, measuring roughly 9m from NW to SE by 6m transversely, had been attached to the exterior of the enclosure on the NE. No trace of these structures was observed.
