Full Description

A hut circle at Culnacraig, Achiltibuie.

207005 903056 Culnacraig 2 IB301: The hut circle was visited by A Welti and I Brandt in 2013 as part of research for a dissertation on hut circles in Wester Ross. This was part of a degree course overseen by Aberdeen University. This structure sits on a heather covered slope near to the sea, as does JA001 (see MHG7176). Measurements and entrance orientations are similar and it is possible that the two HCs are associated. The distance between them is 500m. A further visit to this site is necessary to complete detailed recording with a sketch and photographs. <1> <2>

[Note: a database was set up as part of research for the dissertation and was subsequently expanded as an extension of the We Digs Project (see website link below). The full access database can be made available to enquirers/researchers if requested - contact HER for details].

GIS spatial data created in 2019 to position as seen on 1999-2001 vertical APs. <3>
