Full Description

NG25SE 13 279 542.

A group of five shielings is situated where the Allt Mainnir nan Gobhar bifurcates immediately E of the line of a boundary dyke (see NG25SE 8.15) 1km ENE of Bay. There are four oval or circular mounds in the group, three of which display traces of stony structures, with an enclosure. The enclosure, which is cut by the S branch of the burn, measures 6m in length by 4m in breadth and has a cell, 1.3m across, attached to its E side. The largest mound, 9m in length by 7m in breadth, stands 0.8m in height and has a stone structure on top, with a cell 1.7m across on its NE side; a second structure is visible as a blister on the SE side of the mound.
