Full Description
A series of turf dykes were recorded during an NTS pre-afforestation survey of Kintail and West Affric in 1997. They were spread to c. 1.2m wide and up to 1m high. They followed an un-named burn and also appeared to define a field to the W on the flatter ground by the river Croe. An isolated broad bank c1.5m wide and c. 0.6m high ran for c. 50m N/S. The turf dykes appeared to relate to the farmstead (MHG59237) immediately to the SE; perhaps this area was being cultivated before sheep farming was introduced. <1>
The dykes are visible on 2013 vertical aerial photographs. <2>
