Full Description
Members of Historic Assynt visited the kerb cairn recorded close by and noted that although a 4m square foundation had been previously recorded just to the north of the cairn the foundations were much larger than previously recorded at 15.3m x 8.4 externally and consist of substantial blocks of stone. This proportions and construction suggest a pre-clearance longhouse. It lies sheltered in the lee of the mound on which the cairn is sited and ot of the prevailing winds . Very few pre clearance structures survive at Achmore because of intensive land improvement but this site is just outside the improved areas. <1>
