Full Description
NG25NE 1.07 256 592.
Several boundaries and large globular enclosures centred around Dun Hallin are defined by largely earthen banks. There are areas of lazy-beds within the globular fields to the NW and SE. Immediately around the broch, are traces of widely spaced shallow grooves of more recent ploughing and are shown as improved on the 1st edition of the Ordnance Survey map of 1880 (Island of Skye &c., Inverness-shire 1880, sheet ix). A sequence of construction is evident in the layout of the banks, although many relationships are ambiguous. The boundaries may define the limits of the farms of Peinstaphen and Hallin (NG25NW 10, 11) At least four shieling-huts (NG25NE 1.04) are imposed on the banks and in at least two instances trackways, orientated approximately from E to W, cut across field banks.
