Full Description
There have been a number of finds submitted to Treasure Trove from the Redcastle Area. A general findspot record has been created for this material with a marginal grid reference. TT Nos. and descriptions are given below, and the material has all been allocated to Inverness Museum. For more detailed information about the assemblages, Treasure Trove and Inverness Museum should be contacted. <1> <2> <3>
TT 31/00: A medieval harness bell and 17th century engraved silver heart (bezel from ring). Listed under Acc. No. 2001.027. See attached TT summary sheet.
TT 72/00: Half of a medieval or later swivel ring, a medieval enamelled pendant with three lions depicting the arms of England, and a bronze peg possible from a pistol. Listed under Acc. Nos. 2003.077.001-003. See attached TT summary sheet.
TT 54/01: 5 medieval and later object. Listed under Acc. Nos. 2003.076.001-005. See attached TT summary sheet for photo.
TT 32/03: An 18th century Jew's harp, silver crucible waste and a medieval or later decorated spindle whorl. Listed under Acc. Nos. 2004.019.001-003. See attached TT summary sheet.
TT 47/03: An 18th century button and early 19th century militia button. Listed under Acc. No. 2004.017.001 & .002. See attached TT summary sheet.
TT 117/07: A small assemblage comprising a post medieval lead button, a medieval spindle whorl, a medieval annular brooch, a lead flint holder, a bronze vessel foot, a bronze peg and a copper alloy buckle. Listed under Acc. Nos. 2008.035.001-007. See attached TT report and IMAG photos.
TT 69/13: 11 medieval and post medieval objects. Some were disclaimed but 9 were allocated to Inverness Museum including a thick lead disc with a roughly incised heart shape with a cross and on the reverse a cross within a circle, a jaw harp, a buckle and an annular brooch. Listed under Acc. Nos. 2014.042.001-009. See attached TT report.
TT 124/17: A post-medieval copper alloy brooch fragmented into 5 parts. It was inscribed with geometric decoration including a cross. Found with in 1/4 mile of Redcastle.
