Full Description

A number of finds from prehistoric to later times found on Fendom Sands (precise location not known) were donated to the NMS by Hugh Miller in 1891. These include: glass beads (BK 1-2, 157-159), lignite beads (BK 160-161), a bronze finger ring fragment (BK 3), bronze rivets (BK 4-7), fragments of bronze wire and loops (BK 8-26), fragments of metal dishes (BK 27-28), medieval pottery sherds (BK 29-34), vessel glass (BK 35-38), strike-a-lights (BK 39-40), lead spindle whorls (BK 41-42), pottery spindle whorls (BK 43-46), stone spindle whorl (BK 47), iron implements (BK 48-55), lead pellets (BK 56-65), metal buttons (BK 66-68), needles (BK 69-85), thimble (BK 86), 30 pins (BK 87-117), decorated bronze brooch (BK 118), Bronze brooch and brooch pin (BK 126, 133), bronze buckle or ring (BK 140), 12 medieval and post-medieval coins from England and Scotland (BK 141-152). <1>

One of the vessel glass fragments has been idetified as Roman. <2>

A leaf shaped arrowhead was found by a farmer at Fendom in 1955. <3>
