Full Description
Fort Augustus, Jetty centred on NH 38280 09250
This jetty, on an E-W alignment and measuring c14m x 5m, may be of recent construction. The south and east sides of the jetty are made up of large dressed stone blocks which are neatly angled and have evidence of drill holes. These blocks have probably been dumped here from elsewhere, possibly the old fort or from excavation of the nearby Caledonian Canal. There is a metal mooring post at the centre of the jetty. Recorded in 2014 as part of RCAHMS Scottish Canals Recording Project. <1>
