Full Description

A shell midden eroding out of the section of a sand extraction site at the south end of the Ness of Portnaculter near Tain was found by P Dunshea, C Whiting and T Mutanen in 2019. The extraction site measures some 15-20m across and the midden appears as a thick layer of cockle shells above the sand deposit on one side. <1>
