Full Description

A small farmstead comprising a roofed rectangular building and other structures is depicted on the 1st Edition OS Map at this location. <1>

HES Canmore records a farmstead at this grid reference, however, there is some degree of error within this record. It describes a farmstead recorded as as amorphous macula cropmarking on oblique aerial photographs which is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map as two roofed buildings. The aerial photograph attached to the record however is actually centred on a point approximately 1km to the east-south-east at NH 93862 85920, and there is no farmstead of two roofed building depicted on the 1st Edition OS map at this location. It also seems unlikely that a 19th century farmstead would appear as amorphous cropmarks. It would appear that the grid reference given on the HES Canmore record for this farmstead is thus erroreous or the wrong aerial photograph has been attached. GW 23/07/19
