Full Description

Situated on sloping moorland S of Dunbeath Water, 1400m WSW of Loedebest are three hut-circles and traces of associated cultivation.
Hut 'A' is located at ND 1239 3179 and is c9.5m diameter. The walls that define the hut circle are about 2m wide and 0.5m high and some facing stones are visible on both inside and outside of the wall. There is a possible entrance to SE of hut.
Hut 'B' is located at ND 1247 3180 and is about 9m NW-SE by 6.5m SW-NE. The wall is spread to about 1.5m wide and is about 0.5m high. The entrance to this house is to SE and 3 large loose stones have been dumped in entrance presumably after abandonment of hut.
Hut 'C' is at ND 1239 3178 and was probably originally about 8m in diameter. N portion of hut wall has been destroyed at some time in past by construction of the track which skirts settlement to E. Where it is best preserved the wall of this hut is about 1.7m wide and 0.5m high. The position of entrance is unclear.
A length of turf-covered stone field wall extends for 20m to NW of hut 'A' and there are a number of possible stone clearance cairns around these hut circles.
To S of hut circles an area of land has been cleared of stone and enclosed within a stone wall presumably during post medieval period. Information from Historic Scotland July 1992.

An enclosure is depicted on 1st edition OS 6-inch map (Caithness 1877, sheet xxxviii) & on current edition OS 1:10,560 map (1962).
Information from RCAHMS (AKK) 5 January 1996.
