Full Description
Pictured on Dornoch Historylinks Image Library is an old photograph of the Mercat Cross and stocks (No. 36). The photo was taken in the 1920s but it shows the stocks with a sign saying 1722. See also No. 12271-12272. <1>
A reproduction of the stocks is displayed at Historylinks Museum. Also within the collection there is a heavy padlock and key (Acc. No. 2011_080_01). Local accounts suggest that this lock came from the town stocks. See link below for photo (No. 10665). <2>
