Site 5. Bridge abutment. The remains of a faced stone bridge abutment is seen on the west bank of the Peffery Burn. The abutment is 1m high and c6m in length but grossly wasted in places. A bridge is marked in this position on the 1762 map and also on the 1828 plan. The bridge is on the main access road (see site 8) to the castle. <1>
