Full Description

A project surveying and recording the archaeological sites within the grounds of Castle Leod was carried out by members of the North of Scotland Archaeological Society (NOSAS) in the winter of 2012-13.

Site 26. Pits – two pits just to the north of the Countesses Well have been excavated into the slope. They may be exploratory diggings for coal/shale. Southmost is 1m deep and c3m diameter. Northmost is 0.7m deep and c2.5m diameter. <1>
