Full Description

A possible building to the west of Achnavast.

A possible building visible in LiDAR data gathered by AOC Archaeology in 2011 as part of the mitigation for the visual impact on the archaeological landscape associated with the proposed Baillie Hill windfarm, Caithness. <1>

The possible building measures approximately 10m x 6m with possibly two smaller extensions at either end. It was not identified in the initial analysis in <1> but it is visible in the data. An area of narrow rig cultivation lies adjacent to the immediate southeast, though this was thought in <1> to be associated with threee hut circles (see MHG61733-5).
