Full Description
A ?C19 farmstead at Achnacly, Caithness.
Building, identified in LiDAR data gathered by AOC Archaeology in 2011 as part of the mitigation for the visual impact on the archaeological landscape associated with the proposed Baillie Hill windfarm, Caithness. Ruinous rectangular building measuring 20m by 6m, oriented N/S. <1>
There is clearly a second building visible in the LiDAR data to the immediate east of that recorded and a third to the northeast. Both of these buildings are shown on the OS 1st Edition 6" map. There are also slight indications of an earlier building or structure in the form of an 'L'-shaped piece of low wall immediately abutting the larger building on its west side [IS-L 29/06/2020].
