Full Description
Remains of a possible farmstead at West Shebster, Caithness.
Two very slight enclosures, one with a possible longhouse orientated north-south is visible in LiDAR data gathered by AOC Archaeology in 2011 as part of the mitigation for the visual impact on the archaeological landscape associated with the proposed Baillie Hill windfarm, Caithness. This site was not identified in the initial data analysis. <1>
The larger of the two enclosures contains the possible longhouse and a possible second building in its southwest corner. The second enclosure, to the immediate northeast of the first, also contains a possible building at its west end. Both enclosures have been cut by a modern drainage ditch [IS-L 15/07/2020].
