Full Description

An fragment of the butt of a flat axehead was discovered by metal detecting and claimed by Treasure Trove (TT 27/19). The axehead is covered in olive green corrosion and details of the original surface are obscured. The surviving features indicate this can be classed as Type Migdale axehead (following Schmidt and Burgess 1981: 35–59) or Class 3 (following Needham 2018: 17–22). It was allocated to Inverness Museum. See attached TT report for further details and photo. <1> <2>

Four figure grid reference given is marginal only. A full GR for the axehead is held by Treasure Trove. GW 02/09/20
