Full Description
The original site of Muirtown House, to the west of the south end of the Muirtown Locks on the Caledonian Canal.
The house belonged to the Duff family and is shown on John Home's plan of Inverness (surveyed in 1774). <1>
It was demolished presumably around the turn of the 19th century when it was replaced by a larger house c.400m to the north-northwest (see MHG15846). The area immediately to the north became the site of a walled garden (see MHG62250) for the new house.
