Full Description

A shieling hut beside the Aberchalder Burn, Strathnairn.

The site was visited and recorded by CFA Archaeology in 2004 during a walkover survey in advanced of development of the proposed Dunmaglass windfarm. An oval possible shieling hut or bothy is terraced into the NW side of a low knoll on the west bank of the Aberchalder Burn situated to the east of the present track and to the west of a section of hollow way defining an earlier track alignment. The hut measures 2.5m x 1.5m internally between walls up to 0.6m wide. <1>
