Full Description

In July 2015, a walkover survey was undertaken at Raemore Wood, Lairg by Anne Coombs on behalf of the Forestry Commission Scotland to identify and demarcate archaeological sites in advance of pre-stocking operations.

Site 6; A stone and turf dyke appears to be part of a sub-rectangular enclosure but was not followed to its full extent. The dyke does not appear on any maps so it may have gone out of use by the time of the 1st Edition OS map of 1843-82. The majority of the visible dyke was marked by high tree stumps c.5m from the edge of the site. <1>

Note: Site not visible on aerial photographs so location approximate. (T. Blackie 30/08/21)
