Full Description

In July 2015, a walkover survey was undertaken at Raemore Wood, Lairg by Anne Coombs on behalf of the Forestry Commission Scotland to identify and demarcate archaeological sites in advance of pre-stocking operations. The sites are numbered according to the RoCAS list and maps.

Site 12; A line of intermittent stones form a short dyke on the break of slope below two hut circles (see MHG62351/MHG62352) which suggests that the dyke is likely to date form the same period as the hut circles. The site was marked by gps and taped around the high tree stumps c.5m from the edge of the site. <1>

Note: Site not visible on aerial photographs so location approximate. (T. Blackie 30/8/21)
