Full Description

Between May and August 2012, a survey was undertaken by the North of Scotland Archaeological Society (NoSAS) to identify, survey, and record the archaeological remains at Achadh Mor, Loch Garve.

Site 37; Burnt mound. Situated 250m to the northeast of hut circle 24 (see MHG62450), this feature is on the west side of a small stream. The mound is kidney shaped, 11m x 7m overall and has a pit at its centre. The pit, which has a diameter of 1m at its base and 3m in its upper part, is 0.8m deep and has an opening to the east where the water course is just 2m distant. The whole area has been planted with trees. A cup marked stone, see MHG62452), is just a few metres to the southwest. <1>
