Full Description

A shieling hut below Doire Thulaichean.

The feature was recorded in 2013 during a walkover survey by Headland Archaeology in advance of the proposed Culachy Windfarm. A shieling hut located some 18m to the N of Allt Doire Thulaichean. It is defined by a shallow hollow enclosed by low turf banks 1m wide by 0.1m high on top of a prominent green mound on a gentle SE-facing hillside. The structure is sub-rectangular, aligned NE to SW and measures 3.5m by 2m wide internally. <1>
