Full Description
A hut circle at Hinnesdal.
138796 856941 AW080 Hinnesdal Track 1: The hut circle was visited by A Welti in 2013 as part of research for a dissertation on hut circles in Wester Ross. This circular stone structure is in poor condition. It sits in an enclosure and on a platform built out from a very gentle west facing slope, with panoramic views inland. Turf and stone boundaries indicate surrounding field systems. Vegetation in and around the structure is grassland. Average inner diameter is 5.5m. No measurement was possible for the outer diameter. Wall thickness is 1m with maximum height 0.3m. A large medieval-post-medieval building abuts the HC on its east side. The site is less than 500m from a Dun. <2> <3>
