Full Description

A hut circle at Hinnesdal.

138965 857015 AW081 Hinnesdal Track 2: The hut circle was visited by A Welti in 2013 as part of research for a dissertation on hut circles in Wester Ross. This circular stone structure is in poor condition. It sits in a cluster of three stone structures, is adjacent to an enclosure and is associated with field boundaries of turf and stone. Vegetation in and around the structure is grassland. The site is at a distance of 10m from a stream, 10m from AW082 (see MHG62657) and has panoramic views inland. The structure sits on a platform built out from a very gentle West facing slope. At its most intact section the truncated wall is 1m thick. The average inner diameter is 7m. No other measurements were possible. There are shielings built over the HC and the site is less than 500m from a Dun. <2> <3>
