Full Description
This panel was recorded as part of the ScRAP (Scotland’s Rock Art project) by members of NoSAS in November 2018. On the west bank of the River Nairn, opposite the confluence with the River Farnack, is a southeast facing slope of rough pasture with many boulders. This large earthfast boulder is about halfway up the slope, 50m north of Balnafoich 1 and 2. Balnafoich 4 is about 4m to the east. The local name, Balnafoich, is mis-spelt on the OS 1:25k map as Balnaoich.
This panel measures 3.7m in length and is an irregular domed shape. The main surface rises gently to the east to a maximum of 0.8m. Close to the highest point of the panel 7 cup mark motifs have been carved into the surface. <1>
