Full Description
An abandoned farmstead at Toftingall, Caithness. It is shown on the OS 1st Edition 1:2500 map as a single long building with an attached small enclosure. The remains are still partly upstanding and visible in vertical aerial photography. <1> <2>
A DBA and walkover survey was carried out by RPS Consultants in July 2006 in advance of a proposed wind farm development near Spittal, Caithness.
An extended unroofed longhouse croft in 3 sections, with the domestic occupying the northern 2 portions. Overall length is c.20m with partial gables surviving and sash & case window frames evident in 2 window openings. Southern third appeared to have been added later. <3>
