Full Description
A small group of shieling huts at Beinn a Chearcaill, Skye. They were recorded during a walkover survey by Archaeological and Ancient Landscape Survey in 2001 in advance of the proposed Edinbane Wind Farm development.
Site U: Below small cliff faces at the mouth of a small open corrie on the west facing flank of Beinn a Chearcaill are the remains of two small, stone built, shielings. Both examples are of the twin-celled type and both use the cliff face as one side of their cells. A 1m diameter pen lies just to the west of the northern shieling. <1> <2>
