Full Description

A bloodstone lithic scatter found at Guirdal Glen, Rùm.

Guirdal Glen 2: The site was found by S Birch situated on a raised gravel terrace on the west side of the Guirdil Burn, and at 30 metres OD, a selection of bloodstone flakes and chunks were recovered. The lithics here were also found eroding out of the surface of the pony track and from animal rubs/ponding. A total of 35 pieces of material were recovered, with 3 x pieces retouched – one with course and steep retouch forming a point (possible borer of some form). The other two flakes having fine, microlithic retouch. <1>
