Full Description

A hut circle to the southeast of Lydsurach. Not originally recorded by the OS (see MHG10051 and MHG63727 for the other two hut circles in this area).

The hut circle was recorded during a walkover survey undertaken by S Farrell in April 2005 in advance of a watching brief for a proposed new house. Hut circle 'C': NH 61584 95270 – at 777ft – 10.2m north-south x 8.4m east-west, with entrance to southeast. Some stones visible. Built into bank at north, width of wall c.1m, though not totally discernible. No associated features or deposits were seen in the subsequent watching brief and the hut circle itself was avoided. <1>

The hut circle is visible in vertical aerial photographs taken in 2020 and in SEPA LiDAR data. <2> <3>
