Full Description
NOSAS members carried out a walkover survey at Cul Beag in Aug 2015.
Site R: Burnt Mound - the smaller upper burnt mound a few metres to the north of 1 measures 10m x 6m x 1m height and has a small hollow on its east side. A knoll to the east may have been part of this feature but it has become separated from it by the small water course. Burnt heather covers the feature. <1>
A walkover survey was carried out by West Coast Archaeological Services in 2021 on behalf of Treeline Forestry Limited and Fairburn Estate in advance of proposed woodland creation schemes.
Site 66: The second burnt mound in the group of two measures 10m long x 6m wide, with banks >1.1m high. There is a small hollow located in its east side. A knoll to the east may have formed a part of this feature but has been eroded through by the small water course. Heather and bracken-covered (NoSAS Site R). <2>
