Full Description

An archaeological desktop and walkover survey were undertaken by Historic Assynt in 2015 in an area of proposed woodland expansion in Glencanisp, Lochinver, Sutherland.

Site 7: Airigh Fraoich: FCS category C. The name of the south facing slope above Loch na h'Airigh Fraoich suggests that it has long been used as a shieling ground. Two enclosures survive as the only recognisable features. This first enclosure at the western end of the area lies within a well defined dyke. The enclosures are subdivided with cultivation strips in the south east. <1>
