Full Description

Two shieling huts in the area of Grulin Uachdrach, Eigg. The huts were recorded by the former RCAHMS in 2002 during a multi-year survey of the whole island.

On the S coast of Eigg, in an area of open moorland about 650m SW of Galmisdale, there are two huts and an area of lazy bed cultivation enclosed within a small field. The huts stand about 8m apart at the W edge of the field. They measure respectively 4.8m in length by 3.5m in breath and 3.3m in length by 2.2m in breath within walls standing up to 0.3m high. The lazy bed cultivation extends to about 1.8 ha.
