Full Description

A mound or elevated platform is visible immediately adjacant to and to the north of the Rosemarkie graveyard northern wall on a 1950s photograph taken from the hill to the west of Kincurdy. The feature is adjacant to the 19th century church which is on the site of an early medieval Pictish monastic settlement. It is in an open garden area with a washing line in front of the mound. A bungalow has since been built on the site slightly to the east of the mound and the earthwork appears to have been leveled but there could be remaining structural evidence underneath the front garden. This could represent a garden feature, excess soil from graves being disposed of over the wall or it could have been the remains of a structure associated with the earlier church. <1>
