Full Description

A rapid archaeological survey of a proposed Woodland Grant Scheme was conducted by C Dagg at Stittenham Farm, Ardross, Easter Ross in 1999.

Site 6. Stone Dyke. The best-preserved section of what appears to have been a wall defining the eastern boundary of the drove stance, now mostly removed or destroyed by planting and road construction. This section begins at the burn and runs to the corner of the open ground. Standing over lm. high, it has a vertical `inner' wall and banked `outer' wall, designed to keep livestock on the NW side of the dyke.<1>
