Full Description
A rapid archaeological survey of a proposed Woodland Grant Scheme was conducted by C Dagg at Stittenham Farm, Ardross, Easter Ross in 1999.
Site 11: Stone culvert. Possibly contemporary with the enclosing of the field, a well built culvert carrying running water to drain into Loch Achnacloich. The culvert is exposed in several places, either because it has collapsed at these points or to allow drainage of surface water from the field. It is exposed for a length at the east of the field to allow livestock access to drinking water. The field is also drained by a network of red clay pipes, many of which would appear to be blocked. <1>
