Full Description

A possibly prehistoric boulder boundary dyke near Hill Cottage.

The site is visible as a sinuous line of stone in vertical aerial photographs. <1> <2>

The site was visited and noted by C Dagg during a walkover survey undertaken in 2017 in advance of a proposed woodland creation scheme. Site 7: Boundary dyke: A low, meandering rubble bank runs south east from site 6, crossing out of the proposed planting area. This has the appearance of an early Modern field boundary, although it may be much earlier and even prehistoric. It is a rare survivor on this high ground from what must have been radical clearing of the landscape in the 19th century. <3>
