Full Description

Approximate site of the pre-crofting township and settlement of 'Invabeg' (Inverbeg?). The settlement is shown and labelled 'Invabeg' on the Roy Military Survey Maps to the east of another settlement labelled 'Invamore' (Invermore? - see MHG65111). It is shown surrounded by cultivated fields and appears to have been replaced by the crofting township of Inverroy (see MHG65419). The exact location of the original cluster of buildings is difficult to discern as there do not appear to be any surviving earthworks of buildings visible on vertical aerial photographs,. There are, however, vague indications of earthwork dykes nearby of slighter construction than the later crofting head dyke which crosses the area in the approximate assumed area, which may be associated. <1> <2> <3>
