Full Description
A 30m stretch of drystone dyke was recorded during an NTS pre-afforestation survey of Kintail and West Affric in 1997. it was visible to the E of the new track and to the S of the Allt Coire a' Mhadaidh. The dyke only survived to its basal course c.0.9m wide and c.0.2m high but the surviving construction and linear course SW/NE suggest it was 'relatively' recent in date. The rest lay under either the new track or scree from the burn flooding. <1>
The description of this feature in <1> is confusing as it does not completely match anything visible in available vertcal aerial photography. There is a stretch of dyke on a southwest-northeast alignment close to the grid reference provided but it is only 10m long. It is assumed that this is the feature but that the measuremnet was in error. <2>
